Sharing Stories.
Transforming Lives.
Together, As One.

Imagine a world where the voices of marginalized youth from remote communities are not just heard but celebrated, where young people hold the power to shape how their story is told. A place where kids are the storytellers, capturing their lives and the spirit of the land in ways only they can. Through their lenses, we see the strength of family and community, the beauty of tradition, and the promise of tomorrow. Their stories aren’t just heard; they guide us, reminding us all that every voice matters, and that everyone has to power to create change in ways they never thought possible…

that is the power & the purpose of NGARRA.

Ngarra is a not for profit project that empowers the youth in the world’s most remote and marginalized communities by utilizing the power of photography to share their stories and create meaningful, lasting change in their lives. By providing cameras, education, and support, we enable these young artists to capture their unique perspectives, find their voice and share their stories through the transformative medium of photography that transcends boundaries, languages and connects us all.

Their stories are then shared all around the world in gallery exhibitions, art installations, and events, with 100% of the profits raised being invested into their community, creating better opportunities, and brighter futures for everyone.

Their photos provide a window to their world, raw, unfiltered, and full of emotion. Stories told through a lens of hope, dreams and unlimited possibilities.

‘Ngarra’ means ‘Together As One’.
It is more than a word. It’s an ideology, a philosophy, a way of life, a path to change; a movement of togetherness, of cultural preservation, and of global change.

toIt is together, as one, that we can make a difference.
one story, one frame, one dream at a time.

how does it work?

from their lens to the world: stories that inspire, voices that empower, change that lasts.

Our Projects follow a simple yet impactful approach – hand a camera to a child and watch the world start to shift. It’s more than taking pictures. It’s about creating space for young people to show the world what it looks like through their eyes. It’s about giving them the tools and support to tell their story, their way, through their own lens.

The process is grounded in connection. We come into a community, sit down, listen, and work with them to share their life, not tell it for them. We provide cameras and workshops that immerse kids (usually between 6 and 16) in the art of photography. What they create is raw, vibrant, unfiltered – a reflection of their lives and the land that shapes them.

The photographs are then showcased in Exhibitions held in galleries around the world, with 100% of the profits from the sale of their work directly reinvested back into their community, creating lasting change for them, their family, and their people.

Now imagine: you’re a child in a small village. You’ve just helped bring clean water to your family, solar panels to your neighbors, medicine to an elder, built a school for you and your friends. And it was your story – your way of seeing the world – that made it happen. What would that do to your sense of self? What kind of fire would that light inside you? It’s not just about the things, but the ways. It’s about what happens when a young person sees their voice valued, their story heard, their community transformed by their own creativity.

And it’s just as important what happens on the other image – What shifts in the hearts of the people who see these photos, who invest in them, who hang them in their home, who realize what good can be done when we give, when we share, when we support each other.

Ngarra is more than an art project. More than photos or film. It’s a movement – a quiet revolution fueled by reciprocity, creativity, and the kind of storytelling that changes lives on both ends of the lens.

stories have power

we can change the world with story; one frame at a time.

Every photograph is more than an image – it’s a window into possibility, a spark of potential that bridges worlds. When young people pick up a camera and frame their unique perspectives, they’re not just telling their story; they’re crafting a connection that leaps across borders and languages, braiding hearts, minds and spirits together. Each frame they create becomes a marker of their journey, a light that illuminates not just their path but the shared humanity we often forget.

There’s something powerful about bringing these stories into the physical world, printing them, and placing them on gallery walls. When you stand in front of these photographs, they speak to you – not just through the image, but through the energy of the story behind it. The photos dissolve distance and time, drawing you into the moment they were captured, stirring empathy, understanding, and a recognition of what we all share, the fragment we all have in common, in being human. In these quiet exchanges, the stories have the power to shift something within you, to remind you of your own connection to the world, to the land, and to inspire action and relation.

For the young photographers, seeing their work on the walls of a gallery -celebrated, respected, and honored – is a moment of profound pride and validation. For those who encounter these images, it’s a transformative experience that changes you and inspires you. You’re invited into their world, to see the beauty, resilience, and diversity through the eyes of children – raw, honest, and deeply human. These aren’t just photographs; they’re connections, relationships. They’re windows into a shared world, where every story brings us closer to one another, closer to stepping back into our role as custodians of creation, and creating a better future for everyone.

Reclaiming Stories, Restoring Balance

empowering voices, connecting communities, and giving back to the future

Our Why is simple: we do this because the future depends on it. Sharing stories is more than about telling – it’s about giving. Giving hope, giving voice, and giving back to the land, the people, and the generations to come. Everyone deserves the chance to share their story – not just because it’s their right, but because the world is incomplete without it. These stories are the threads that braid us together, the lifeblood of connection, everything in relation. They remind us who we are, showing us the beauty of our shared humanity and the need to live in harmony with the land and each other. We all hold fragments of that big pattern, the meta-narrative. If we are going to protect this world, to step back into our role as custodians of creation, we need to pass on the tools for the next generations, and the only tool that will survive, that will always be relevant, is Good Story.

When a young person picks up a camera and captures their world, they’re not just making art; they’re reclaiming their place, their voice, their truth. And when that truth is shared – printed, exhibited, celebrated – it has a way of taking root. It grows empathy, understanding, and action in the hearts of those who see it. That’s the kind of change that lasts – the kind that ripples out, touching lives, strengthening communities, and reminding the world what’s possible when we listen, connect, give back and work together. Ngarra.

Our mission never was and never will be driven by profit, but by purpose. We are a not for profit because the work we do is rooted in indigenous ways of knowing, of being – and to give is to fulfill our responsibility to the land, to the people, to our ancestors and to the generations yet to come.

our Impact, So Far.

What started with a single frame captured by a child and a purpose ignited by an elder around a campfire has grown into a global movement of connection, preservation, and change. Ngarra is more than a project – it’s a living story, a testament to the power of togetherness, reciprocity, and the enduring resilience of the human spirit.

It reminds us that when we come together to share our stories, we are stepping back into our role as custodians of creation. This work is guided by ancient wisdom, fuelled by the flames of traditional ways of knowing that illuminate a path forward. It is a path that invites us to sit around the campfire, to listen deeply, to share openly, and to understand fully. Through this unity, we create the kind of change that lasts – change rooted in respect, reciprocity, and the unwavering belief that every voice matters.

Through the lens of a child’s camera, we see the raw beauty and resilience of lives often overlooked. These stories travel far, crossing borders and languages, planting seeds of empathy and understanding in the hearts of those who witness them. The profits generated by these stories circle back, empowering communities with resources, education, and opportunity. Ngarra is proof that storytelling is not just an art – it’s a force for transformation. Every frame is a call to action, every image an invitation to see the world differently. This is the future we need – a future where every story is heard, where every life is valued, and where we remember that the fire we sit around belongs to all of us.

Empowering Youth THrough the art of storyTelLing

our story, our mission, our why for being.

Every voice carries a song, a story that longs to be shared. Our project is rooted in the sacred responsibility to nurture community and preserve the cultural heritage that pulses through the veins of those too often unseen and unheard. This is more than a mission – it is a calling, guided by our elders, the land, and spirit, with the deep understanding that every life, every person, every story matters.

Through our projects and initiatives, we strive to amplify the voices that have been silenced or are too soft to be heard, to fan the flames of creativity that burn quietly within us, and to build bridges of understanding across the distances that separate us. This is more than art – it’s a reclamation, a revival of the narratives that connect us to the land, to each other, and to ourselves. We imagine a world where creativity and art is honored not as a privilege, but as who we are, as it always has been. A world where cultures intertwine like the roots of an ancient tree, strengthening and sustaining one another, like it always has been. A world where every individual is empowered to share the story only they can tell, like it should be.

Each of us carries a fragment of the old ways, the knowledge and wisdom passed down, a piece of the pattern etched into our bones, our stories, our places.
It’s only when we come together, placing the pieces back into relation, that we can see the full picture again.
