Those who join Ngarra Projects on a Journey all share one thing: a passion and drive to change the world. When someone joins a project they bring themselves, their expertise, their stories to it, and help community grow. Seeing and hearing of the good that everyone who joined us wanted to do in the world, we decided to create a way to help them, as they helped us. That is the way the Alum Fund came to life:
a fund built on framework of collaborative endeavors, serving as a financial resource for projects focused on education, environmental stewardship, and community contributions.
The Fund operates by pooling a segment of our contributions and donations, our sponsors and partners, redirecting these funds towards impactful ventures initiated by Ngarra Alum. It goes beyond money, sometimes providing consultation, business development, marketing and content creation, collaboration and connection between nonprofits on the ground and their mission – it is a relational network that we give to those who give.
The Alum Fund operates on a philosophy deeply rooted in reciprocity and community empowerment. When alumni contribute to this fund, they become active participants in a transformative cycle of giving and receiving. A portion of their contributions directly supports ongoing NGARRA projects, amplifying the impact within communities worldwide. The remaining funds are reserved to assist alumni in their own ventures, allowing them to apply for financial support and guidance to initiate projects aligned with NGARRA’s ethos.
This collaborative approach not only nurtures a supportive network but also empowers individuals to enact meaningful change. Through the Alum Fund, participants are not just beneficiaries; they become integral contributors to a collective effort to enhance communities’ well-being. Every contribution matters, directly fueling NGARRA’s mission to create sustainable and positive change globally.
By nurturing a network of inspired and committed individuals, the Alum Fund echoes the interconnectedness and reciprocity ingrained within Ngarran systems, offering the resources, guidance, and financial support necessary for members to amplify their positive impact in communities around the world.
Since its inception in 203, the Alum Project Fund will support 4 people in the first half of 2024, investing grant money, connection, and ground support to their projects that have the potential to make a massive difference in community.
Sarah, a passionate Ngarra Alum, embarked on a remarkable journey to address pressing women’s health issues in rural India. Guided by her dedication to women’s empowerment and the local community, she proposed a project aimed at providing sanitary spaces and resources for women in an underserved village.
With the support of the Alum Fund, Sarah initiated a program to create safe and hygienic environments for women’s health. Her project established community-driven sanitary facilities that offered access to feminine hygiene products and education on menstrual health.
Sarah collaborated closely with local leaders, health workers, and women within the village to design and implement the initiative. By leveraging the Fund’s support, she was able to organize workshops on menstrual hygiene, distribute sustainable sanitary products, and build safe and private spaces for women to manage their health needs comfortably.
The project’s success was transformative. Sarah’s efforts significantly improved access to essential resources and knowledge, positively impacting the well-being of women in the community. The initiative not only provided access to sanitary essentials but also contributed to fostering a supportive and informed environment for women’s health in the village, instigating a positive change in the lives of many.
James, an enthusiastic Ngarra Alum, set out on a mission to make a lasting impact in the lives of orphans in Cambodia. Guided by his passion for education and community development, he proposed a project to provide essential educational supplies and construct a schoolhouse for orphaned children in a remote Cambodian village.
With the support of the Alum Fund, James initiated a project that aimed to improve educational opportunities for children who had limited access to learning resources. He collaborated closely with local leaders, teachers, and the children themselves to understand their unique needs and challenges.
The project enabled James to distribute textbooks, school materials, and learning resources to the children, ensuring they had the tools to pursue their education. Additionally, with the allocated funds, he organized the construction of a dedicated schoolhouse where the orphans could access quality education in a safe and conducive environment.
The impact was profound. The children gained access to a well-equipped learning space, encouraging their curiosity and enthusiasm for education. James’s project not only improved educational outcomes but also instilled hope and a sense of community among the orphaned children. His dedication and the support of the Alum Fund transformed the lives of these young learners and left a lasting legacy in the village.
