There is a power in the unity of diversity. In this aggregate is the innovation to drive positive change, and leave a lasting impact on the world. As we started to do more projects, develop what we were doing, how we were doing, and why we were doing it, we started to realise there was a lot more good we could do, and whilst ambitious, we could not stop ourselves from wanting to expand and plant the seeds to make as much impact as possible. While our primary focus remains on photographic projects celebrating cultures and narratives, we saw the need for complementary initiatives, and this was reinforced by the fact that people wanted to help us do it.
These programs go beyond the lens, and serve as bridges connecting communities and amplifying our capacity to effect meaningful change. They are the embodiment of our recognition that our focus on cultural storytelling through photography can be complemented and expanded upon through diverse initiatives. Together, they create a multifaceted approach that fosters genuine connections, fosters exchange, and fuels opportunities for personal and collective growth. Each Program is a testament to the idea that by embracing various dimensions of cultural expression, mentorship, education, and innovative ventures, we can weave a more profound and enduring impact on the world around us.
Schools For Schools takes the power of education to create a ripple effect of positive change. The idea is one that is gathering momentum to every educator and institution we speak with: we enter a school and work with students and transform their passion into a sustainable social enterprise. Together we work on developing an idea for a social good business, we provide them seed money, and the Kidpreneurs get to work with the one goal in mind: Building a school in a remote community that needs it most. Further more the money that their business provides provides vital education opportunities like scholarships, libraries, supplies and more to children who need it the most. We nurture the seeds of empathy and empower students to be the architects of hope, creating a better world, one school at a time.
A picutre is worth a thousand words they say, then how many words can a film share? A collaboration with the VA Network expands on the projects by adding a Film component to capture and showcase captivating stories from diverse communities worldwide. Through their lens, we work with the kids on the story to share, they film it, we work on editing it together, and shed light on the untold narratives, rich traditions, and vibrant cultures that inspire us all. These awe-inspiring films will take center stage at the Va Networks annual One Fire Festival, they are featured at the Exhibition of the project, and are submitted in film festivals and competitions where all recognition, prize money, sponsorship and support goes directly to the community that made the film.
Firestick Mentorship Program came from watching the passions and skills of young artists grow, and saw that they need connection and guidance, so we have started to foster meaningful connections between professionals working in the world, and these up-and-coming talents. This unique mentorship initiative goes beyond traditional mentor-mentee relationships; it’s a cultural exchange, a mutual learning journey. Our mentors, chosen for their expertise, collaborate with passionate individuals from remote communities, nurturing their talents and guiding them toward their dreams. The Moma mentor Program aims to empower the next generation of changemakers, ensuring that the flames of inspiration and knowledge continue to burn brightly for years to come.
The work being done is a compelling union between indigenous knowledge and modern scholarship, serving as a conduit for cross-cultural exchange and empowerment within marginalized communities. Rooted in a dedication to catalyzing positive change and safeguarding cultural heritage, we know that integrating the world of academia is an important step in bolstering the mission. What started by a pitch to our founder for his PhD, sparked an idea to extend that offer to create an inclusive platform to intertwine their academic research. Institutions’ support amplifies our purpose, fostering a collaborative ecosystem where diverse academic works fortify our mission. This synergy not only enriches our initiatives but also broadens our impact, creating a fertile ground where academic endeavors and societal progress converge harmoniously.
Inspired by the teachings inherent in the Ngarra wisdom, the Alum Fund stands as a haven for the Journey members, past and present, aiming to foster global change through collaborative ventures and meaningful endeavors. It stands firm in its commitment to offer participants both a network and financial assistance, allowing the realization of aspirations that uplift communities and champion the spirit of ethical travel.
You work with us on a journey, that opens you to funding possibilities and support for your project, where we lend our strength and network behind your project, and help you grow and create the most impact you can in this world – because if one succeeds, we all succeed.
